If you’re snappy you can pick up some amazing room rates if you’re coming from outside the Whistler area to enjoy the craziness that is the W.S.S.F. (World Ski and Snowboard Festival). Check out www.whistler.com/sale for some killer deals!
The snow is continuing to fall here in beautiful Whistler, BC and as we get closer to the festival things are starting to really ramp up. The Axe Concert Series just released the artist line up for this year, I have linked them to a few you tube snippets for your listening pleasure! It’s a real mix, I am particularly looking forward to Tokyo Police Club and Broken Social Science.
April 15 – Fort Knox Five
April 21 – Black Mountain and Tokyo Police Club
April 22 – Broken Social Scene and Dinosaur Bones
April 23 – Gogol Bordello (kind of reminds me of Borat!)
April 24 – Ozomatli
What’s amazing about all this, is that it’s free! The bands will be rocking the village all through the day, crowds gather along Whistler’s streets as we all move to the music.
In celebration of the 10th anniversary of the ever popular 72-hour Filmakers Showdown, they have now chosen 10 of the best, which will be played at the gala event. Check out who made the final cut here:

Monster Energy Drinks is the title sponsor for the snowboard section of the events. With a reputation for staying up all night, and burning the candle at both ends – they have certainly got a full line up of events for the festival. It’s ok, you can get through it, just drink enough Monster! Communications manager, Jess Smith, gives us the run down:
“The opening night of Festival, Friday April 15th, sees The Sh*t Show, featuring live music and the industry’s top riders, kick off the week of snowboarding in style. On April 16th The Late Show, a rave to rule them all, features DJ’s Excision, Mat the Alien, and The Librarian. Sunday April 17th provides a little lee-way for recovery, with a ‘Pub Night’. Finish off the epic adventure that was Monster Energy’s The Show revelry line-up, with Tuesday April 19th’s The Sideshow. Reminiscent of the dress-up parties of the early 90’s, The Sideshow “encourages everyone to dress up like their favourite sideshow “personality”, we’ll have some of the best sideshow acts in the world doing shows all night.”
